The Friendship Highway between Lhasa and Kathmandu is the main travelers’ route through Tibet and allows a number of excellent detours. It's an ideal route in that it takes in most of Tibet's main sights, offers superb scenery and features a spectacular roller-coaster ride down from high La Lung-la into the Kathmandu valley. With this small group, you can head straight from Lhasa to the coiling scorpion-lake of Yamdrok and the glacier-draped Karo-la pass to Gyantse. Then a 90-minutes drive away is Shigatse with its impressive Tashilumpu Monastery. The most popular excursion from the road is to Rongbuk Monastery and Everest Base Camp. A new paved road has cut down driving time to just a few hours. This classic overland route of around 1300km can be done in just 7 days on this well organized trip, and it takes in central Tibet’s most important monasteries, plus views of the world’s highest peak.
Minimum number of people for the trip : 3 person

Tips for the tour guide and driver
1. Think about whether the Group Tour is what you want, because Group Tour programs and arrangements are just like the set-menu, or a buffet, but not a la carte. This means that if you have special tastes please go to the customized tour. Joining in the Group Tour means that you accept the menus. We, of course, would like you to make the details clear before you book with us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
2. Based on point 1, however, if you do not like some of the set-menu, i.e you don’t like the hotels, please let us know before the booking and we can adjust the hotels. Or if we cannot meet your demands we will recommend you go to the customized tour. We design the Group Tour for those who want to save money, or make friends with other group members. Just like Southwest Airline in the United States we serve the limited tourists, not all. Those who have special requests or want a deluxe tour please go to customized tour.
The vehicle used for the trip may or may not be air-conditioned, but due to the unique Tibetan climate it is unlikely air-condition will be needed. Also, because group size will vary the vehicle may be a van, Landcruiser, or mini-bus.
Shuo Atop the Rongpu Qinzhogma Hill at the foot of Mt. Qomolangma, Rongpu monastery is 90 kilometers away from the Tingri County seat and is 5,800 meters above sea level? It is the highest monastery in the world, so the scenery is as great as you can imagine.
Rongpu Monastery was originally constructed by Red Sect Lamas in1899, although it is not as old as other monasteries in Tibet, it is famous for its high latitude and murals.
The monastery has five stories, but only two of them are being used now. It is said that the reason why they built the monastery so high was that they want to enjoy a quiet environment and have a sound sleep.500 hundred monks lived here once while the monastery was very popular, but only 50 monks and nuns live here nowadays.
Annually it holds three-day sorcerers activities on the 15th of the fourth month and the Ghost-Beating Festival on the 29th of the 11th month of the Tibetan calendar.
It is 60 kilometers from New Tingri to the Rongpu Monasterry. Tourists can take a taxi to go to the monastery because there is no regular bus. The monastery provides lodging places for $4 each bed.
